Hello! I’m a naming ceremony celebrant, trained and accredited by Humanists UK. I create and deliver joyous, heartfelt and uplifting personalised humanist naming ceremonies that celebrate the arrival of a new child. I also lead ceremonies to mark an adopted child joining a family, celebrate a blended family, or to affirm a new identity.

What I offer

I’ll work closely with your family to craft a bespoke non-religious ceremony that welcomes your child into the family with warmth and love. Together we’ll create an authentic and heartwarming ceremony, incorporating personal elements, stories, and promises to make the day uniquely special.

Personalised Naming Ceremonies

Welcoming a new life is a momentous occasion. From the initial consultation to the final script, I ensure that every detail is tailored to your preferences. You may choose to involve family and friends, singing, music, poetry, and even symbolic rituals. You also include guide parents - sometimes called mentors, champions or even ‘odd parents! - as an alternative to godparents. It’s a day that will be unique to your family.

Please do contact me if you are looking for a professional celebrant to conduct your child’s naming ceremony, I’m happy to have a conversation in the first instance to explain more about what I do and how I work.

"The best ceremony I've ever been to... you need to give me her details in case we ever get married!"

That was what I heard time after time as I went round my guests after our wedding ceremony. Julia was the standout hit of the entire thing, turning everyone's expectations of wedding ceremonies (stuffy, formal, long) on their head.

Her "love story" section in particular had people laughing and crying in equal measure.

And that's just the day itself. In the run up every call we had with Julia was helpful, supportive, kind. She guided us to a ceremony that would work for us without ever imposing her own preferences.

I honestly can't recommend her highly enough - an absolute star and we were so lucky to have found her. Thank you!

Wow!

I will never be able to thank you enough Julia for creating the best ceremony ever! The ceremony was filled with love and humour and really reflected myself and Matt.

From the early meetings to the big day you were nothing but amazing.

Our ceremony was so personal and I absolutely loved the audience participation particularly having our friends and family be part of the handfasting ceremony. So many of our friends and family commented on how special and unique the whole wedding was and that was hugely down to you!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Julia was our celebrant for our wedding in August and she made it the most special event. The love story she told during the ceremony was so personal, it had everyone giggling and was so full of love.

I can't recommend Julia enough, as she made the whole process easy and enjoyable.

I can't express how many people said to us - that was the most beautiful service ever. Julia created the perfect atmosphere for us, went with all the chaos (we had 8 toddlers and a dog present as well as multiple babies) and just made the whole ceremony the most special, personal celebration we could have hoped for. She has been so kind and supportive throughout the whole planning journey, and we cannot recommend her more highly. We were so lucky to have her involved in our day.

Humanist naming ceremonies

A humanist naming ceremony is a joyous event, and the perfect opportunity to gather friends and family to welcome your child into the world, with no reference to religion. It focuses on the child, their future and the circle of love and support around them, offering a sincere and personal alternative to a christening or other religious ceremony.
