Naming ceremonies are a way to celebrate the arrival of new family members and welcome them to the world.
Baby naming ceremonies – and other naming ceremonies – are fun affairs. They bring family and friends together to celebrate the arrival of a new addition: a baby, an older child or children, or maybe someone transitioning to a new gender.
We focus on the person or people being welcomed; often, all those present – parents and guideparents (or honorary aunts and uncles), grandparents, siblings and friends – pledge to support them in their lives and ambitions. Namings are often combined with another celebration, for example a birthday.
They can be held anywhere, indoors or outdoors, in hired venues or the family home or garden, whatever suits you and your guests.
I will work with you to craft a unique ceremony for your particular needs. I will help you choose any readings, symbolic gestures or music that would be perfect for you.
I’ll draft a script for your approval and then deliver it on the day, giving you a Presentation Script to keep afterwards as a reminder of the special rite of passage you have celebrated.
