Hi, I'm Victoria

My name is Victoria Baldwin and I’m a Naming Ceremony Celebrant, trained and accredited by Humanists UK. I create and deliver joyous, heartfelt and uplifting personalised humanist naming ceremonies that celebrate the arrival of a new child. I also lead ceremonies to mark an adopted child joining a family, celebrate a blended family, or to affirm a new identity. It would be my privilege to be your Naming Celebrant and help you mark your special life event.

I live in Barry, in the Vale of Glamorgan, with my husband, our son and our rescue cats. I am a second language Welsh speaker and can incorporate this into your ceremony should you wish. Together we will create an authentic and heart-warming ceremony, incorporating personal elements, stories, and promises to make the day uniquely special.

Personalised Naming Ceremonies:

Welcoming a new life is a momentous occasion. I will work closely with your family to craft a bespoke non-religious ceremony that welcomes your child into the family with warmth and love. From the initial consultation to the final script, I ensure that every detail is tailored to your preferences. You may choose to involve family and friends, singing, music, poetry, and even symbolic rituals. You may also include guide parents - sometimes called mentors, champions or even ‘odd parents! - as an alternative to godparents. It’s a day that will be unique to your family.

But Naming Ceremonies are not just for babies and young children. People of any age may choose to change their name for a variety of reasons, including the joining together of blended families, as well as gender reassignment or affirming a new identity. Some choose to revert to a previous surname following a divorce or the break-up of a civil partnership. Whatever the reason, I can promise you a ceremony that is every bit as unique as the person being named.

Please do contact me if you are looking for a professional celebrant to conduct a naming ceremony filled with love, laughter and sentimental tears. My ceremonies are joyous and uplifting, and with over 40 years experience of writing professionally for a wide range of audiences, I am confident that I can produce the perfect ceremony for you. I refuse to do a ceremony that is less than perfect, so that is my commitment to you.

Victoria wrote a lovely ceremony - very detailed and rich.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist naming ceremonies

A humanist naming ceremony is a joyous event, and the perfect opportunity to gather friends and family to welcome your child into the world, with no reference to religion. It focuses on the child, their future and the circle of love and support around them, offering a sincere and personal alternative to a christening or other religious ceremony.
