Hi, I'm Victoria

Love, love, life and love. That's what I'd like to help you celebrate. With sincerity, joy and the energy that comes from gathering friends and family to mark one of the most profound moments of your life. Thank you for inviting me in.

You're in good hands

I have conducted ceremonies in hotels, wedding venues, bars and gardens - in Newcastle, Northumberland, Yorkshire, North Tyneside and Edinburgh.

Thirty-nine families have thanked me for welcoming their children to the world. We've laughed, had the odd tear, reflected on gratitude and made a whole load of wonderful memories and photographs along the way. I was delighted that one of them then asked me to be their wedding celebrant, for their legally recognised Humanist wedding in Scotland. And so it began. I come to you with experience, warmth, open ears and great big heart.

Outside of my celebrant work, I have created events for Durham University and Newcastle University. As well as a creative story-teller, I am also a precise and skilled organiser so you can trust me to deliver your ceremony.

Being part of Humanists UK (HUK) is also important. Conducting humanist ceremonies since the late 1800’s, HUK training is values-led, includes continual professional development and puts you squarely among a community of progressive thinkers. It also means that I have a network of colleagues to call on the day if necessary. You can read more about my other ceremonies here: Victoria Bainbridge – Humanist Naming Celebrant.

Gravitas and joy

Some key things I like to understand are: where your dream wedding stands on the spectrum of quirky to formal, loud to more delicate, fun to serious. I probably naturally fit towards more formal, delicate and fun.

Previous ceremonies I’ve created included poetry, bagpipes, communal singing, live guitar and sea-dipping (just the toes mind!). My writing style has been praised for its warmth, humour and empathy. You deserve that. This ceremony, this day, is uniquely yours.

And how does that work?

After your initial internet research, please get in touch. Ordinarily, we would have a quick call to be assured I’m the right person for you. Then have a more in-depth conversation about the vibe you want to create and the stories you want to share. I get to work weaving those into a ceremony script. You oversee the creation of a beautifully unique story of your love which you will want to hold forever.

If you’d like to start that process now, please get in touch.

Hi Victoria,We just wanted to say thank you again for Saturday. It was such a lovely ceremony, funny and emotional, and exactly what we wanted.Everyone told us how much they enjoyed it, how special it was, and how impressed they were. My dad in particular has told us over and over how impressed he was with the ceremony. Sarah, Ashbrooke Cricket Club, May 2023

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist weddings

A humanist wedding ceremony is a wonderful option to celebrate your wedding in the way you choose: without religion but with meaning, and totally true to the two of you. They are uplifting and heartwarming occasions, personal to each couple to reflect your personalities and interests, and your love story. Sincere and significant, your ceremony will be crafted to create an occasion which is unique and fitting to you both.
