Hello! My name is Philippa and my pronouns are she/her.
As a Humanist Naming Celebrant, I create and deliver joyful, heartfelt non-religious ceremonies to celebrate the arrival of a new child, mark an adoption, celebrate a blended family, affirm a new identity or reclaim an old one.
Why a Humanist Naming Ceremony?
For millennia, in every culture right across the globe, humans have celebrated their important life events with rituals and ceremony - and organised religions don't have the monopoly on that!
A Humanist Naming Ceremony is a chance for you to enjoy a unique celebration, where every detail is tailored to you, in words that are meaningful to your family, expressing the values you want to convey.
Humanism is all about inclusivity and diversity, so EVERYONE is welcome at a humanist naming ceremony.
You can involve your family and friends, and possibly Guideparents, with singing, music, poetry and ritual - or not!
Together, we will craft a bespoke non-religious ceremony: one that reflects your family in all its marvellous diversity!
A bit about me
During my career as a GP, and more recently as a Counsellor, I've helped many people navigate the important times in their lives - and the welcoming of New Life is just about the most important thing there is!
As the mother of four (now adult) children, I know that anything involving children can get a bit messy... and I'm pretty unflappable!
In my spare time you might find me running (very slowly) or swimming in the wild outdoors. And I do a bit of crochet when I sit down.
I am the unpaid staff to two cats.
