Hi, I'm Melissa

I am proud to be a Humanist Wedding Celebrant covering all of Teesside including Redcar and Cleveland and Hartlepool and also County Durham and North Yorkshire. What could be more wonderful than to work with people who reinforce the value and importance of love in this world? How you met, what you love about each other, the spark that keeps you alive as a couple and all those funny times together are stories I relish putting together in a script that comes to life in the ceremony. The proposal is usually a good story to tell also. I am always impressed by the couples I meet as they understand that the wedding ceremony itself is at the heart of their day. I believe that my job is to help the couple set the tone for their wedding day and to include family and friends in a way that values their support and encouragement. Everyone should be leaving the ceremony on a high, full of anticipation and hope for the future.

I am a creative person. I enjoy writing poems and stories, playing with words and adding humour where appropriate. I also love painting, having completed a degree in Fine Art and learning about Art Therapy also. My creativity comes into play in ceremonies and I love the fact that different rituals can be used, also music that is personal to you, entrance and exit music, background music in parts too. You can choose where you want to hold the ceremony and add your own readings or poems. Family and friends can play a part in the ceremony too if you like. The wedding world is your oyster!

I believe that my listening skills play an important role in my first meetings with you. I scribble in my notepad like a woman crazed when I meet you, please understand this is just my way of making sure I don't miss things. Those little comments can be gold dust for us celebrants. I pride myself on covering ceremony details as much as possible but I am also very adaptable to changing circumstances, including the weather which is a necessity in this country. I always make the point that any little hurdles that may crop up on a wedding day can make the day more memorable in the long run.

I would encourage anyone who is after a unique wedding where the depth and strength of their love is finely balanced with humour and upbeat vibes to give me a call. You are in safe hands with a fully accredited humanist celebrant. We are authentic, regulated and fully insured.

Melissa was fantastic from start to finish. She was very engaged and wrote a great initial speech whilst being receptive to our feedback and accommodated some minor tweaks we suggested. Melissa was always available and very responsive to our messages- she was a pleasure to deal with. As requested, she delivered a light hearted and funny and personalised ceremony and our guests loved it. thanks so much for being part of our day Melissa.

We had laughter and tears (of joy I may add) and everyone loved it. I'm getting tears now just writing this! Everyone said how wonderful, funny and emotional the ceremony was and quite a few said it was the best wedding they'd ever been to! Friends are still messaging us saying how wonderful the day was. Mel is so enthusiastic in what she does and together we created a beautiful and memorable day for everyone. Can't rate her highly enough. Thankyou Mel
