I’m Maria, a Derry Girl and wedding Enthusiast, the face behind Married By Maria.
I’m a Humanist wedding celebrant in Northern Ireland, and the best wedding ceremonies are the ones that belong to the two people standing at the centre of them.
Before becoming a celebrant, I spent more than 15 years working in the wedding industry. From planning and coordinating weddings to managing the finer details and handling the unexpected, I’ve experienced weddings from just about every angle. I know what goes into creating a memorable day, and I understand how much the little things matter.
That experience shapes the way I work today. I bring practical knowledge, thoughtful preparation and a calm head to your wedding, alongside a genuine love for people and their stories.
And after all those years in the wedding industry, the ceremony is still my favourite part.
A ceremony that feels like you
I want your ceremony to sound like your relationship, not a script that could belong to anyone.
The way you met, the things that make you laugh, the challenges you've overcome and the life you're building together. These are the details that make your story yours, and they're where we begin.
Perhaps you want something romantic and heartfelt. Perhaps you want laughter, personality and a few happy tears along the way. Maybe you want to include family traditions, meaningful readings, personal vows or handfasting. Whatever matters to you, we'll find a way to bring it into your ceremony.
There is no template to follow and no expectation to fit into somebody else's idea of a wedding. My role is to listen, get to know you both and create a ceremony that feels natural, personal and unmistakably yours.

When you invite me into your story, I never take that trust for granted.
Your wedding belongs to you, including the decision about how much of it you share with the world. I respect your privacy and won't use photographs of you or your wedding as social media content without your permission. If you tag me in a post and are happy for me to share it, that's lovely. Otherwise, your memories remain yours.
My focus is on you, your promises and the experience we're creating together.
Time to get it right
I work with a maximum of 30 couples each year. This allows me to give each couple the time, attention and care that a genuinely personal ceremony deserves. Getting to know you shouldn't feel like filling in a questionnaire. I want to hear your stories, understand what matters to you and discover the details that make your relationship special.
