Who doesn't love a wedding?
From the moment a couple make their enquiry to the moment they pledge 'I do', is a journey to be treasured. Humanist wedding ceremonies are unique and so it's the greatest pleasure to meet people who are intending to marry and want to do it differently. From the moment I am booked, I am entirely focused on the construction of a wedding ceremony that will kick-start a fantastic party and that is memorable enough to be part of the celebrations and not just an event that precedes the champagne!
The process starts with a meeting where all practical aspects of the ceremony are discussed including the writing of vows. Supporting couples to write their own vows is a distinct feature of a humanist ceremony. At this first meeting it is also a chance to get to know the couple and to find out what part of their love story they want to share, how their relationship has developed, why they love each other enough to be married and their aspirations for the future. It's a beautiful thing for me to meet strangers who are able to disclose so much in that meeting and who often come away writing to me that they felt ever more sure of their decision to marry after talking through their love story. It's also important at that meeting for me to know what kind of tone and mood they want to set for their ceremony, how formal or informal they may want it to be. Then I go away and write that ceremony and thus begins a process that will be worked on until perfect right up to the day.
