Hi, I'm Jenny

I am a Humanist celebrant living in Gilwern on the edge of the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog. If you have found me here, it is likely that you are facing an overwhelm of difficult decisions, at a time when you feel least able to face them. I hope I can support you to make that journey as easy as it can be.

Every life, every person is unique. I work closely with families and friends to ensure that every person is given a tribute that recognises them as the one of a kind that they were. I meet with the people who loved them, we tell stories, and I get to know them as fully rounded, complex human beings who lived and loved. I then craft a ceremony that reflects them in all their glory and your relationship to them. The results are often joyful and full of warmth, whilst acknowledging and making space for the pain and sadness in the room.

As an ex-music teacher and general poetry geek, I am always happy to support people to choose poignant and personal readings or music. My ceremonies are inclusive and respectfully non-religious. I do however appreciate the significant role that religious hymns and readings can play within people’s lives, for many reasons. I will always find a way to ensure that these are included if requested, without finding myself inauthentically leading acts of worship.

I regard funerals as a team effort and communicate effectively with Funeral Directors and crematoria staff to make sure that such a difficult and significant moment goes smoothly so that the bereaved can focus on what is important.

I am passionate about crafting authentic ceremonies that reflect each individual and their relationships with those left behind. Nothing can ‘make it all ok’, but I believe a funeral service can offer an important step in learning to live alongside your grief. If you would like to find out more, or I can help you in this process in any way, please do get in touch.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
