Hi, I'm Hope

As a professional funeral celebrant, with a background in healthcare, I specialise in creating tailored, non-religious funeral services that honour the life of your loved one with dignity, compassion and professionalism. I work closely with families to craft personal ceremonies that reflect the individuality of the person who has died—their values, relationships, achievements, and the legacy they leave behind.

Humanist funerals offer a meaningful and fitting way to say goodbye to your loved ones. These ceremonies focus not on belief, but on the unique story of a life lived. Every service I deliver is bespoke, designed to celebrate the person in an authentic and respectful way.

I also offer Pre-Planned Funeral Celebrant services, working closely with individuals and their loved ones to provide comfort and reassurance as they prepare for the ceremony. This thoughtful approach allows the individual to have a say in how they are remembered, ensuring their wishes are honoured and easing the burden on family and friends during a difficult time. It's a meaningful way to create a personal, respectful farewell while offering peace of mind to everyone involved.

Funerals often take place in traditional settings such as cemeteries or crematorium chapels, however, other venues can accommodate a ceremony, including hotels, function rooms, community halls, or private houses. Outdoor spaces can also provide a beautiful and significant setting, provided the landowner’s permission is obtained.

If you are arranging a memorial or ash-scattering ceremony following a direct cremation, the possibilities for location are even broader. I can support you in planning a gathering in a space that truly resonates with your loved one’s life and legacy. Please note that landowner permission is required for scattering or interring ashes.

It is a privilege to help individuals and their families find comfort and meaning through ceremony. My role is to ensure that each service is thoughtfully prepared and delivered with the utmost care, creating a space to reflect, honour, and say farewell in a way that feels right for you.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
