Hi, I'm Hannah
A West Yorkshire-based humanist naming Celebrant with 14+ years' experience and 500+ hard-earned standout reviews. I love what I do.
'I'm struggling to sum up just how amazing Hannah was throughout. No matter how many times I've re-written this, it still doesn't seem enough! The whole process was so easy and her knowledge and skills exceeded all expectations. Worth every penny.’ Becki
Who tends to hire you? - I’ve worked with so many different families over the years, but they've all wanted a naming ceremony, adoption celebration or celebration of family that is the best it can be: full of joy, humour and authenticity. They've been excited about everything my particular way of working offers them: a really precious opportunity to pause and take stock of their journey so far and all they've achieved together.
‘Hannah performed both our children’s wonderful naming ceremonies. Going through the process again reminded us not only how much we’d cherished the first perfect day, but just how good Hannah really is! The best balance of love, warmth and humour.’ Jenny
What’s different about your approach? - I'd guide you through a three phase process that's flexible, thought-provoking and fun. Writing with your answers to bespoke questions that you've had time and space to think about means my naming scripts are full of character, insight and detail, making them even more effective. I include other original touches too, like contacting our guide-parents independently so their promises remain a surprise for you on the day.
‘Emilia’s naming was absolutely perfect (Carla perfect!) The ceremony was beautiful, surpassing our expectations. The words you wrote and said really did matter – it’s a day we’ll never forget. We really can’t express how grateful we both are to you.’ Carla
How would you choose a Celebrant? - First, I'd want to understand what's different about their approach and hear some of their writing so I can judge its quality and depth. Then I'd meet their previous clients through their testimonials - did they get as much from the process as they did the day and what kind of a legacy did it leave? By the time we've chatted on the phone I'd want to be sure not only of their skills, but their passion for what they do.
‘Thought-provoking questions from Hannah enabled her to write an incredibly personal naming: Martha’s traits, our hopes and how she'd changed us. The guide-parent promises, all individual, meant so much. We'd love to do it all again!' Jon
We’re not sure if every humanist naming ceremony is conducted the way you approached it, but we cannot thank you enough for all your efforts gathering the information you needed to get a real feel for us and our family life.

Our girls’ naming ceremony was amazing. Thinking of the script still makes me cry now. Such a warm, welcoming person, Hannah gives your day that special touch of magic. I still get compliments to this day. We loved her so much.

Absolutely everyone said how heart-warming our naming ceremony was. They all thought it was the best they’d ever been to, even thinking you were an old friend you were so natural. An AMAZING experience, far better than we could have hoped for.
— Cheryl + Dean
Thank you for it all Hannah: your calming influence, your humour, the effort you made with our families and friends and the atmosphere you created for the naming ceremony. We wanted them all to know how important, appreciated and loved they are. We definitely achieved that.

Humanist naming ceremonies
A humanist naming ceremony is a joyous event, and the perfect opportunity to gather friends and family to welcome your child into the world, with no reference to religion. It focuses on the child, their future and the circle of love and support around them, offering a sincere and personal alternative to a christening or other religious ceremony.
