“Many people said it was the loveliest funeral they’d ever been to. Thank you so much for listening and paying such close attention to what we wanted.
It was stunningly beautiful and your delivery was spot on”
Hello, I’m Emily, a celebrant accredited by Humanists UK. I have the great privilege of creating and conducting personalised and unique funeral and memorial ceremonies.
As a person without religion (not an anti-religious person), and someone who looks to scientific evidence and reason to make sense of the world, I am proud to be a humanist. I guess my tag line (without sounding too self-righteous, I hope) would be that I live life as wholly, kindly and bravely as I can, and I accept my responsibility for leaving the world better than I found it.
A good funeral cannot remove sadness, but it can provide some comfort and light. It is these qualities that I strive for in every ceremony that I deliver.
Good endings are so important in our journey through life, and it is my absolute pleasure to help you create a ceremony that feels right and meaningful to you. A humanist funeral puts the person who has died at the focus and provides an opportunity to grieve and to celebrate the life that has been, in the most fitting of goodbyes.
With a background in nursing, my working life has been all about compassion and empathy; being beside people at some of the most challenging times in their lives. Driven by my love of people and my passionate belief in humanity, it is such a privilege to spend time learning about a life lived and creating a farewell ceremony that is truly personal.
Please do contact me if I can potentially help you, I’m happy to have a conversation in the first instance to explain more about what I do and how I work.
