Hi, I'm Dawn

“I conduct non-religious funerals as I believe that people that do not have a religious faith have the right to a dignified and personalised ceremony, celebrating the life they have lived.”

Dealing with the loss of someone that you’ve loved can be incredibly hard, whatever the circumstances of their death. Although I cannot promise to take away the feelings that come with grief, this is a time, working with the Funeral Director, that maybe I can help take some of the worry around the funeral ceremony away from you.

My aim is to use my personal skills and training as an accredited funeral celebrant with Humanists UK, to help me to deliver the type of warm, affectionate and memorable funeral that you want for your loved one: a ceremony that truly celebrates and honours the life of the person who has died.

It is very rewarding to meet with families and learn about the deceased and the story of their life. I then create a unique personal ceremony which recognises the life, loves, experiences and achievements of that individual.  After the ceremony, the family receives a final copy of the ceremony script, as many find having a copy of the text is a wonderful, lasting memory of their loved one.

Feel free to contact me on 01745 853571 or 07838 124651 if you would like to find out more or just discuss matters further.

"There are no words to express gratitude to Dawn. The sudden death of our son was devastating to all our family. Dawn came to our home to arrange the funeral service. Dawn was so kind and compassionate. The tribute Dawn delivered on the day of the funeral was a true celebration of Neil’s life. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The tribute will stay in our memories for ever. Thank you Dawn."

Dawn was quite simply, perfect, she exceeded our expectations in every way possible with how she conducted the service for my mum, the socially distanced visit with me to discuss my mum in order for her to write the service was so personal and lovely, everyone commented how beautiful and well put together it was. Dawn we can’t thank you enough xx

It far exceeded our expectations. Dawn took a lot of time both with us as a family and after in her preparation of a very thoughtful and accurate address. My Aunt would have been delighted with the words and sentiments expressed. Everyone remarked after the service on just how personal and caring the service was, with a perfect mix of warmth and reverence. I am so glad we chose Dawn for this hugely important task

Dawn and her daughter conducted an amazing funeral service for our wee child. They both showed such compassion and kindness through out every interaction. Many people commented on the day how beautiful they were able to celebrate the life of our wee one. My heartfelt thanks goes to them. I honestly do not think it could have been better. Absolutely wonderful!

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
