Hi, I'm Blake

As a humanist funeral celebrant, I understand that saying goodbye to a loved one is a deeply personal and emotional experience. I offer a balance of reflection and celebration, honouring the life of the deceased while providing comfort and support to those left behind. My aim is to create a non-religious ceremony that genuinely reflects the wishes of the family and celebrates the unique journey of the person who has died.

With nearly ten years of experience and as part of the Humanists UK celebrant training team, I have the skills and experience to craft ceremonies that resonate with those who attend. I believe that a funeral is not just a time for mourning but also an opportunity to remember the good times and the positive impact that the person had on their family, friends, and community. While grief is natural, I find that moments of warmth and gentle humour, where appropriate, can help bring comfort and spark cherished memories.

I work closely with families from our first conversation through to the end of the ceremony. I will take the time to meet with you, listen to your stories, and learn about your loved one. Together, we’ll create a ceremony that reflects their personality, values, and the moments that mattered most. Whether you want a simple, reflective ceremony or one filled with anecdotes and celebration of life, I am here to guide and support you in crafting something truly meaningful.

I always ensure open lines of communication, so you’ll never feel out of touch during the planning process. From selecting music and readings to structuring the eulogy, I will offer suggestions while respecting your wishes. Above all, I want the ceremony to feel personal, unique, and a fitting tribute to the life we are remembering.

The venues that I most frequently work at include Oakley Wood Crematorium (Leamington Spa, Wellesbourne), Warwick Cemetery, Canley Crematorium (Coventry), Stratford Cemetery, Rainsbrook Crematorium (Rugby), Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground (Lower Tysoe), Banbury Crematorium, Robin Hood Crematorium (Solihull), Lodge Hill Crematorium (Birmingham), Heart of England Crematorium (Nuneaton), Redditch Crematorium, and many others.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
