The death of a loved one is always a difficult moment, and something that we will all sadly experience at some point in our lives. A humanist funeral is an important place to acknowledge your grief and loss, but it's more than that - it's a celebration of their life. I will meet with you so I can learn all about your loved one; how they spent their life, what they loved, and the best stories and memories you have of them. A life is made of both the grand moments as well as the small details, and I love to hear all about your loved one, from their career and family, or their taste in music, or even the words and sayings that always make you think of them. Many of my clients have told me that they really enjoyed the meeting - spending a few hours together, where you will tell me all about them, thinking about your favourite stories and the ways in which they have impacted you, can be a truly cathartic experience.
Once we have met and I've heard all about your loved one, I will write a personalised ceremony that reflects the person and how they spent their life. A humanist funeral is non-religious, with the meaning and significance coming from the bespoke nature of the funeral. Did your loved one have a passion for music, or poetry? Or maybe they couldn't stand anything sombre, and would have wanted a light-hearted funeral? I will create the funeral ceremony to reflect the person. I will work hard to ensure that the ceremony reflects your loved one - and for it to be a true celebration of their life.
I can do funerals or memorials in most locations. You can go for the more traditional crematorium or burial ground, or a celebration of life, held at a house or a different venue. There are lots of options, and I will happily work around you and your needs.
