After a 34 year careers at the BBC, I now work as a Humanist Celebrant. I have conducted over 300 funeral ceremonies.

As your funeral celebrant, my aim would be to craft a bespoke ceremony with you which appropriately acknowledges the passing of your loved one, but also celebrates their life and all that was special about them.

Below are some snippets from feedback I have received. Please click on my website for more, and/or drop me an email or give me a call.

"Nick was the Celebrant at my Father's funeral and got the tone spot on, helping to make it such a special day"

"Nick was the absolutely superb Humanist celebrant at my father's funeral. Superlatives are insufficient. He is caring, attentive, sensitive, and diligent"

“We just wanted to thank you again for all your efforts, preparation , consideration and patience. We loved the service. It was so right”

“I would just like to thank you on behalf of me and my family. Lots of people said what a lovely service it was today. I feel that Dad would have approved too.”

“Thank you very much for such a lovely farewell. You very much did what he would have enjoyed, so I say thank you in his name also.”

“Such a comfort and a delight to be in the hands of a caring, consummate professional. The service / celebration was lovely – we could not have asked for better”

“Thank you so much for a wonderful ceremony. Everyone has been singing your praises. You certainly helped make a difficult time that much better which was very much appreciated.”

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
