A Humanist Funeral Ceremony is all about the person who has died – a celebration of their life, everything they did and achieved - what they meant to you. It should also acknowledges the emotion and poignancy of the occasion.
Everyone deserves a good send-off and everyone has a tale to be told about them – the story of their life.
Ceremonies may be long or short, quiet and solemn or boisterous and irreverent, or anything in between – whatever you want it to be.
You, friends, relatives may want to speak, read poems, sing or play music, possibly even dance! … or it may only involve me, taking the ceremony and speaking to those who are there. Ask me what’s possible and I will almost certainly say yes to your suggestions and create your ceremony, individually according to your wishes.
I will spend as much time talking to you as you need and will make more visits if needed. I have fund of poetry and readings that may help you to create the perfect ceremony. There will be time for you to make any changes you would like.
Most ceremonies are held at a crematorium but I also take burials, at the graveside. Memorials may be at any venue of your choice, often following a direct cremation. I will also meet people in the last weeks of their lives, to help them make their final plans.
If you have any questions or are unsure whether this is what you want, give me a call – I'm very happy to chat.
