Hi, I'm Mark

Hi

My name is Mark and I am an experienced Lifecycle Celebrant accredited by Humanists UK. That means that I am trained and accredited in all three ceremony types: Naming Ceremonies, Weddings and Funerals.

I have a background in fiction writing, sports MCing, and radio presenting. I specialise in writing unique funeral ceremonies to offer a personal and meaningful goodbye to your loved one. My funerals and memorials are tailored to tell the life story of someone close to you that has died and I work alongside you to make sure that it is the fitting goodbye that your loved one deserves.

I believe that it is a privilege to conduct ceremonies for the milestones in people’s lives, and I am always more than happy to work closely with people to make sure that their ceremony is perfect for them.

Mark conducted a beautiful ceremony which was personal, measured and engaging. He spent time at our home learning about my father’s life and very quickly transformed our anecdotes into a tribute which was entirely fitting and wholly personalised. This meant that during the service the family could entirely relate to the stories and that it brought back many happy memories.

On first meeting Mark, I knew we had the right person to do our service. Very warm, welcoming persona. Talked us through what would happen and how to go about things on the day. The script he delivered to us on the day, was fantastic. Made us laugh, made us cry. Very professional and I wouldn’t hesitate to use Mark again when needs called for it.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
