Hi, I'm Mari

Hello my name is Mari and I have been delivering unique humanist funeral ceremonies for two years. In a previous life, I was a nurse and health visitor working in various locations in London, Pontypridd and Cardiff and it was during my experiences as a nurse that I developed an interest in care of the dying patient and palliative care. I witnessed first hand the impact bereavement and grief has on a family. As a celebrant I cannot diminish your grief but I am able guide and support you during the most difficult time of your life. The important thing is that you have a personalised ceremony which reflects your loved one's life and character. This can mean helping you to choose music or poetry at a time when you may find making decisions very difficult.

Ceremonies can take many forms and apart from the conventional crematorium experience, there are other options such as, memorials, scattering of ashes and burials.

Your support throughout the whole process was amazing. Many people shared with us later how your words and conduct in the service helped a great deal to process their grief. . It means a lot. The service was wonderful and your honouring of his life, finding the meaning within it , with your beautiful voice makes us very grateful. People commented that they found the service more of a focus on the person and their life and was more comforting than a traditional service.I would have been lost without your guidance and support. You have helped me beyond measure

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
