Hi, I'm Lisa
My name is Lisa Sharpe, and I’m a Funeral Celebrant with Humanists UK.
I am currently based in Swadlincote in Derbyshire but I am happy to travel across the East and West Midlands.
I chose to be a Funeral Celebrant after enduring loss myself. I wanted to show that having a funeral need not be religious or all doom and gloom and that it can also be a celebration of a life, where you can share memories and good times.
If you choose me to officiate a funeral for you then I will meet with you and other members of family and friends to get to know as much about your loved one as possible before writing the tribute.
This will then be sent to you for approval before the day.
You will also be able to include readings or poetry (That I can help with if needed) and to choose music that would be appropriate and fitting to listen to on the day.
You will also receive a presentation copy of the funeral tribute to treasure.
I also officiate Interments of Ashes, Memorials, and Natural Burials and offer Pre-planned Funerals.
Ultimately the funeral is your day to say goodbye and YOUR ceremony that can be tailored to how you want. I will be there to guide you and make everything run as smoothly as possible.
“I wanted to say a massive thank you from us for your help and support and the fantastic service you gave yesterday and the way you delivered it made all the difference, so again thank you”.

“Lisa did everything that was asked and expected. We have had only positive feedback from those that attended the cremation and Lisa’s input into the eulogy helped make the service very personal and a fitting tribute”.
—
“Hi, Lisa. I just wanted to thank you for such a beautiful service today. Everyone was so impressed by how you captured the person they all knew in different ways from great-grandchildren to oldest friends, it was perfect.
The music you helped us choose also reflected her favourites. I was holding it together until The Rose came on…that did it for me…I think you chose that one!!
None of us will ever forget the service and how beautifully you carried out the tribute so thank you, you were so poised and composed yet full of emotion…I honestly don’t know how you do it.
Thanks again and best wishes”.

“Hi, Lisa,
I wanted to send you a message to express our sincere gratitude for the wonderful service you delivered for Dad on Thursday.
From myself, Nan and the rest of the family – we are so grateful for everything you did for us at this terribly sad time.
From the very first meeting, the ongoing liaison, thoughtful check-ins throughout, and then of course the delivery on the day – you helped create a service for Dad that we could really be proud of and I have no doubt he’d of approved too!
Many of those who attended also commented on how well the service was delivered and how beautifully it captured the essence of Dad and his life, which was completely down to you.
Being head-to-toe in his favourite colour blue was a wonderfully touching tribute too.
I do believe in scenarios like this you meet the people you’re meant to meet to help you through, and you have certainly been that person for us, Thank you.
Thank you again for everything, your kindness and dedication to your role really shone through”.

“Lisa, We both wanted to say a massive thank you for everything you have done for us. Arranging a Celebration of Life Service for our son is the hardest thing we have ever had to do. You have walked us through it, step by step, helping us through the whole process. You spent the time to find out exactly what we wanted and to get to know us and more importantly our son. Nothing was too much for us to ask, even when you had to wait for tributes that arrived the day before.
This meant that every part of the service was perfect for him and exactly what we wanted. Throughout the service, you took great care of us. From the hug when we arrived up to the hug when you left. You went above and beyond by wearing a Green Day T-shirt – that was just the perfect touch.
We can never thank you enough for giving him the send-off he deserved. Everyone has commented how perfect the service was for him and how lovely you were.
Thank you for everything”.

“From our very first meeting with Lisa, we knew she was the right person to deliver my husband’s tribute. She explained every detail to us so we fully understood the role she was going to undertake and in one word to describe her we can honestly say, she was ‘MAGNIFICENT‘ she is a credit to Humanists UK. I myself have given instructions for my funeral service to be a humanist one (let’s hope I have Lisa as my celebrant)”.
—
“Lisa was very sensitive to our wishes and ensured we had the ceremony that we envisaged”.
—
“Thank you so much for your ceremony on behalf of all the family. It was warm and beautiful. The day was very hard but we really appreciated your sensitivity and your support. Thank you again Lisa”.
—
“Lisa encapsulated every aspect of my dad as a person, she emulated his personality, his loves, his way of life completely. Everyone that attended said what a beautiful service, very fitting to Dad and most of them expressed that’s the type of funeral they would like when their time comes”!
—
“Thank you so much for your kindness and expertise at the funeral yesterday. You made a difficult day easier”.
—
“We just wanted to say thank you for all the work you put into yesterday and how lovely your tribute was. You captured the essence of him and his relationship with ****** really well from a short talk with us, and it all went just as we’d hoped".
—
“We’ve had emails from people thanking us and saying how much they enjoyed the day, which was unexpected given the circumstances, but kind of our intention in a way. We wanted it to be uplifting and with your help it really was”.
—
“Thank you very much for conducting the funeral yesterday.
We were very pleased with it,
so were many others who commented what a lovely service it was.
Some said that it was the best funeral they had been to”.
—
“Lisa, Thank you so much for everything. You are and were, amazing!”
—
Just wanted to say a big thank you for your lovely service at my dad’s funeral on Wednesday.
Everyone said what a nice tribute it was, all about the person and their life like it should be.
Most importantly, Mom really thought it was a touching tribute, thanks to you and said what a wonderful job you did”.
—
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the beautiful service you delivered.
Many people who attended had never been to a humanist/ celebration funeral before and all commented on how lovely it was.
They loved the stories and all came out knowing Mom more.
Thank you again
It meant so much”.
—
“Dear Lisa,
We only met briefly on Friday but we did want to say a personal ‘thank you’.
Your delivery and pace were exactly right and we could hear every word. So important when some elderlies are hard of hearing!
Wearing the ‘team colours’ was a lovely personal touch too. Thank you”.
—
“From our first Zoom meeting, I felt we were in accord with the way the Service deserved to be in celebration of his life and work, and to honour him. You have brought together in the full tribute all our suggested thoughts and wishes. We have watched the Webcast and realised how very professional and sensitive the whole process felt throughout. Although you did not know him personally, his character shone through the Service and was a fitting tribute to someone who was admired and loved by so many. With our grateful thanks and deep appreciation”.
—
"A huge thank you for the eulogy today, so many people commented on the delivery and how much it so reflected dad’s life. You were able to paint a great picture of him, showing his compassion and love of his family".

Humanist funerals
Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
