Hi, I'm Kerry

I am a fully accredited Humanist Celebrant for weddings and funerals since 2009, so as you can imagine I have supported many many families over those years. Helping people through such an important time in their life to get the right service for their loved one is not just incredibly satisfying and rewarding to me, its also an honour . I would love to help you create the right ceremony for you or your loved one.

I am also a non religious Humanist Chaplain working in the children's wards at Leicester Hospitals and a trainer too. I believe that helping others who have no religious beliefs to have the right care and support from someone who feels the same way is important.

A Non-Religious Funeral

Whatever we choose to call it, I believe that our "final fling" should be as unique, special and individual as we are. It should reflect who we are and what we mean to our loved ones, friends and families.

A Different Journey

So many people now are letting their families know that they don't even want a funeral in its traditional sense. Many are attracted by the offer of 'Direct' or 'Simple' funeral plans to ease the burden and expense on their family, and that's great. However that type of service does make it more difficult for loved ones to say goodbye properly and celebrate and honour what a special person they are. Doing something special to mark someone's life, and achievements, as well as their importance to us is a key part of our grieving for them. So I also offer a celebratory "Send Off in Style" service too. The time and the place is then your choice - not the funeral director's availability or fitting around crematorium slots. Did you know that on average having someone lead your funeral ceremony is less than 4% of your bill? Crucially it takes the pressure off you to ensure it all runs smoothly too, and at a fraction of the cost of a "normal" funeral.

Preparing Ahead

I also support many people living with a life limiting prognosis who wish to get everything in order, especially their funeral. I work around their health challenges and energy levels in order to prepare a service that is exactly what they want, for the day it is needed.

It is a privilege to help an individual or a family tell their unique stories, whatever those stories are! Together, we can create the right ceremony that does justice to them and their unique life.

Let me help you, if I can.

Thank you for your help and concern in getting us through this unimaginable day.Kerry, we wanted to write a quick note to thank you so much for your service that you read for Len. Your representation and moving words summed him up perfectly, and we could not have asked for a more true portrait to have been told. We also wanted to say thank you for your time spent preparing the service, and your generosity that you have shown to us at this very difficult time.

— the L Family

Kerry, Thank you so much for your heartfelt and caring service you gave for Ray. It ment so much hearing it from someone who knew him and understood who he was. Everyone at the service commented on how it was so personal to him and they all seemed to pick out things they remembered him for over the years. Most of all myself and E.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
