Hi, I'm Julie

I am a humanist wedding celebrant conducting non-religious ceremonies in Cheshire and all over the UK and I love my job.

I adore writing scripts and telling stories but there is no greater joy or privilege than being invited to write the love story of two people. I take great pride in producing meaningful, sincere and unique ceremonies.

Your story is the most important thing and getting to know all about you.

A Humanist wedding is a wonderful, richly fulfilling experience that is personal to the two of you, whether it’s a simple and intimate gathering, with a few loved ones or a grand occasion with a long guest list, we’ll work together to find the right tone and feel for the day.

Your wedding can be WHEREVER you want it to be and HOWEVER you want it to be. There is no set formula. We will design the perfect ceremony that you will cherish for a lifetime and you can be sure of a smooth and stress-free experience.

And because it's important we get along, here's a few things about me that might help you decide if I'm the one for you:

I am a mother, I have a son and a daughter, who are the true loves of my life.

I am also a TV Executive Producer and I've written scripts for many big name stars who all, in their own unique ways, demand high quality writing.

I am a dog lover. All dogs, even the slobbery ones!

I enjoy exercise, reformer Pilates, strength training, running and long walks.

I love food and my weakness is chocolate, the good stuff though, 70% dark.

I am a music lover, my darling late husband, Graeme was the guitarist in Deacon Blue. Music was a shared passion, I love reminiscing whilst listening to the songs we both adored.

I am a dedicated Manchester United fan (don’t let that put you off) with a season ticket at Old Trafford.

I’d like to think that my best traits are being thoughtful, kind, fiercely loyal and determined (ok, you could call it stubborn), but only with the best of intentions, as I believe in doing the right thing.

"Lucky" was how we described our own story and this was just how we felt having Julie as our celebrant. From the moment we met her, we knew she was the perfect fit for us - warm, kind and genuinely interested in our story. She made the whole process so easy and enjoyable, guiding us every step of the way with such care and thoughtfulness.

Julie created a ceremony that was everything we dreamed of - personal and filled with love and laughter. It truly reflected who we are as a couple, and there were so many moments that brought happy tears and big smiles all around. It was emotional and we both knew we would not be able to express our feelings for each other without Julie's help.

On the day, Julie's calm and caring presence set such a beautiful tone. So many of our guests told us how heart felt and moving the ceremony was and we couldn't agree more.

If you're looking for someone who will put her heart into making your wedding truly unforgettable, Julie is the one. We'll be forever grateful for the love and magic she brought to our day.

We really couldn't have asked for more from you, either on the day itself or the months leading up to it - you could not have done a better job. We found you to be so organised and proactive in the build up and the ceremony you delivered was beyond beautiful, receiving glowing praise from virtually everybody in attendance. We are very jealous of your future couples.

— Ellie and Tom

Julie was our celebrant for our wedding in September and she was wonderful from start to finish. It is clear she really enjoys the role and puts a great deal of effort into getting to know you and so she gets the script just right. Very organised, very clear and a lovely presence which is important for such a big role in your wedding day! We had so many comments about how lovely and personal the ceremony was. Would highly recommend.

We're so happy that we chose Julie to be our humanist celebrant for our wedding in July 2025. From the start of our planning process, she took every step to get to know us so she could tailor our ceremony perfectly for us. From Zooming in the early days, to brunch and questionnaires, Julie made our ceremony incredibly personal to us, about our story together as a couple, and celebrating our love for one another. We were very keen for our ceremony not to be the same as other weddings we had attended, as well as staying relaxed and informal, Julie came up with lots of ideas and options to make this happen while ultimately letting all the final decisions be ours. We were sent the final script a few weeks before the wedding to review, and it made us both incredibly emotional reading it for the first time! Her way of writing is stunning, and her delivery on the day really brought it to life for us and all our guests. Our guests even commented to us how fantastic and unique they thought the ceremony was! After the wedding, we received a presentation script, which was such a lovely keep sake and our signed certificate from the ceremony itself. Julie made us feel totally at ease from the start to the end of the process, we would hire her for any future celebrant needs and recommend her to all in a heartbeat!

— Laurence and Niamh

Thank you for being such an amazing part of our day. We loved our ceremony so much, as did all our guests. They hadn't seen anything like it. What a day! Thank you for being so crucial and calming. You're the best!

We had the pleasure of working with Julie Kelling at Oddfellows On The Park. Julie is incredibly professional from the start. With one of our past weddings, she reached out to arrange a meeting with our wedding coordinator and took the time to visit the venue ahead of the big day. She is an absolute delight to work with, both in the lead-up and on the day itself. It’s clear she truly cares about her couples and her craft. We’d be very happy to work with her again and would gladly recommend her to others.
