Hi, I'm Jill

Allow me to express my sincere condolences if you are reading this during a time of loss. Every life, regardless of its duration, deserves to be celebrated and remembered with dignity. While I cannot alleviate the pain of grief, I am committed to helping you honour the life of your loved one through a personalised ceremony that truly reflects their unique personality, values, and life story.

About Me

Born and raised in Scotland I moved to Co. Antrim almost 30 years ago and am very settled here. I began my professional journey in healthcare as a nurse, subsequently becoming a midwife. Throughout my career, I have provided support to numerous families during challenging periods, offering compassion and guidance. Now as a funeral celebrant I continue to do this by creating and leading memorable and meaningful non-religious funerals, celebrations of life, memorials, and ash ceremonies.

When planning my own mum's funeral, I realised it was the last thing I could do for her, so I wanted it to be perfect. This process is very personal and needs care, understanding, and attention to detail. It is important to make sure the arrangements show the personality, beliefs, and wishes of the person who has passed away, as well as what the family needs.

What I offer

I emphasise the significance of personal planning for funerals, which allows families to express their love and respect in a manner that feels genuine and heartfelt. I offer to meet with you and your family to discuss your preferences, learn about your loved one's life, and understand your specific wishes. Based on this, I will craft a bespoke service that highlights their life story, ensuring their memory is preserved with dignity and respect.

My services include assisting with selecting meaningful music, readings, poetry, and other elements that make the ceremony special and personalised.

I also advocate for pre-arranged funerals, which enable individuals to articulate their final wishes clearly and precisely. Planning ahead provides peace of mind, knowing that your preferences will be honoured and your loved ones will be supported during a difficult time.

I welcome the opportunity to discuss my services further and explain how I can assist in creating a respectful, heartfelt ceremony that truly celebrates your loved one's life.

Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
