Hi, I'm Jenny
I am based in Exeter and lead non-religious funeral ceremonies in the Exeter area.
I worked in education for over 30 years, as an English teacher and adviser – a rewarding and challenging career. And now I find it equally rewarding to use the skills which I developed, to meet bereaved family and friends, listen to them talk about the person who has died and help them to have the funeral ceremony they want.
Together we create a ceremony which reflects the personality and values of the person who has died, and which honours, pays tribute to, celebrates their life. The choice of words is agreed between us so that the focus of each ceremony is right for you. We work together to tell the stories of a life, share memories, say goodbye.
Sometimes family and friends play a part as speakers or readers; on other occasions I lead the whole ceremony.
…Your ability to draw it all together with exactly the right words and tone, meant everything to me.Your voice carried love and deep respect and ….spoke for everyone. Many people came up to me afterwards and said how wonderful the service was with some saying they had never been to such a lovely funeral. Many people contributed to that ….you were the hub around which we all turned.

Thank you for your expertise in guiding us through the process…. We were pleased with what we collectively put together and delivered by you beautifully. Your calmness and efficiency on the day was very reassuring.
—
People thought your demeanour, kind authority and the content of your words impressive. With your guidance and support we created a ceremony that was honest, dignified and befitting.

You were so lovely and reassuring and guided us through. Your smile and calmness got me through the day. You do a wonderful job.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.
You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.
Humanist funerals
Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
