Hi, I'm Jennie

I’m a humanist funeral celebrant based in Uckfield, East Sussex. I’m trained and accredited by Humanists UK to lead non-religious funerals.

I first became interested in humanism several years ago when my wonderful 95 year old Nan died. She had never been religious and we decided that a humanist funeral was the perfect way to celebrate her incredible life. Seeing how our celebrant wrote and spoke so beautifully about her inspired me to want to do the same for other families.

I work with you to create a bespoke ceremony to reflect the life of your loved one and what they meant to the people around them. By listening to your ideas and wishes, I carefully craft and conduct a beautiful, personal ceremony. I can help choose appropriate music, poems and readings to celebrate their life in a unique way. Humanist funeral and memorial ceremonies are the perfect way to honour a life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning.

Please do contact me if you are looking for a professional celebrant to lead a non-religious funeral ceremony for your loved one. I’m here to support you during this challenging time and help you create the most fitting funeral for them. I’m happy to have an initial conversation to better explain what I do and how I work.

I would just like to reach out and say how amazing you made L's funeral. You made such a hard time so much easier with your understanding and kind nature. For such a difficult time for the family you made it so much better and made it so personal to us all. I can't thank you enough.

Wonderful words, Jennie - what a memory you have! I'm so pleased that he chose a Humanist service and that you are his celebrant.

Thank you Jennie, your tribute was absolutely beautiful. I didn’t speak to you before we left and I wanted to thank you for the lovely words you said about our even lovelier dad; we all thought it was a beautiful service.

Thank you, that was a lovely service. After today, I've decided that I'd also like to have a Humanist funeral

I've never been to a Humanist funeral before and it was amazing. It was all centred around L and was a real celebration of his life. Thank you

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
