Hi, I'm Janine

Hello, I’m Janine.

I am a Funeral Celebrant, trained and accredited by Humanists UK to conduct personal, meaningful and non-religious ceremonies.

Each life is unique and special; full of surprises and adventures, joy and sorrow, challenges and achievements. Each one has an impact on those around them and, therefore, so does their loss.

As a result, there can be no such thing as a ‘one-size-fits-all’ funeral.

It would be my privilege to work with you to create a bespoke farewell ceremony to honour your loved one, that celebrates their life as well as acknowledging the sorrow of their passing. Using your input of stories and memories we will highlight the essence of their personality in a warm and honest way, tell the tales of their achievements both large and small, and pay tribute to those who have loved them.

The ceremony will be enhanced with poetry, readings, messages and music, and family and friends are welcome to contribute in any way they choose. I welcome humour in ceremonies if that feels right for you. You will have the opportunity to read and amend a draft copy of the ceremony, and will be given a presentation copy to treasure in years to come.

From my own experience of designing a funeral for someone much loved and hard lost, I have learnt that telling stories to a curious and caring Celebrant can bring some light into the dark. I would love to be that person for you.

I am based between Skipton and Keighley and I am happy to travel a radius of 30 miles from this location.

Thank you for such an amazing service. It was perfect! I had full confidence in you from start to finish, you nailed every little detail- the tone, the humour, emotion, and the impact of your words. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing.

What a superb job you did with the ceremony. You conveyed her difficulties but kept her character and cheerfulness – it was absolutely sublime and so touching.

I don’t know how to thank you adequately for the wonderful celebration of life on Friday. I found it uplifting and so full of love for L that it warmed my heart and helped to ease the pain. Thank you for your gentleness, your understanding and your absolute professionalism. It was perfect.

Thank you for a wonderful job that made everything more right about P’s departure, I loved the presentation, your comportment, your delivery and the sense of control.

I just wanted to thank you for doing such a brilliant job today. Especially with such limited material to work with. It was beautiful.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you. The service on Friday was absolutely perfect and was exactly what we had hoped for. Thank you for making the information gathering process so simple. Despite being a difficult time, you made us feel very comfortable and it actually felt like reminiscing and having a nice chat about my Dad. A number of people said it was one of the ‘nicest’ services they had attended. We couldn’t have asked for more.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
