Congratulations on your wedding plans - it's a great idea to think about a humanist ceremony!
Couples often choose to have a humanist ceremony because it will be freer and more personal than a traditional religious or register office service. You can literally do anything you want. It's about celebrating what makes you, you, not the legal aspect. No two humanist weddings are ever the same.
What they do all have in common is our desire to hold ceremonies to mark the meaning of key moments in our lives. Your marriage, civil partnership or vow renewal is an outward demonstration for you both of your deep feelings, and it marks a moment of change or renewal, and your commitment to one another.
And for your guests, if you choose to involve them, it's a joyful opportunity to demonstrate their love and support for you, on the day and into the future.
You don't have to be a humanist to have a humanist ceremony. A humanist ceremony is always welcoming and flexible; it can be an ideal way to reflect a rich mix of cultures and personal family traditions.
And you don't have to ditch traditional elements if you like them.
Humanist ceremonies can be big or intimate, intricate or affordable, held in beautiful buildings or in your living room. Every one is special and memorable.
In my earlier career I was a journalist, and one reason I became a celebrant is my love of words and stories. It is a huge privilege to be trusted to write your story and deliver it with warmth and sensitivity on the day. My home is in Islington in north London where I live with my partner and teenage son and we have a daughter who lives in Scotland - and whom I married to her partner!

And if you decide we’re a match…
I'll send you a simple contract and take a modest deposit to book your date.
We'll meet to get to know one another. We'll talk about what love and partnership means to you, with subsequent meetings as we plan the ceremony and I work on your script
I can suggest ideas and rituals to symbolise your love, and about readings, music and ways to involve your family and friends in the ceremony
I’ll support you to write your promises to one another.
