Hi, I'm Jane

A Humanist funeral ceremony is an opportunity to share time and memories with others who knew your loved one, focusing on their unique life and the values that were important to them.

I have always been interested in family history and to help to tell the story of someone’s life is very special. It would be my pleasure to meet with you, listen carefully to your wishes and to create a unique script for the occasion.

From the memories you share, I’ll write the tribute or, if you prefer, family and friends are welcome to write and read their own, personal words. Together we can discuss choices of music, poems and all aspects of the ceremony and I am happy to offer suggestions.

Whether you are planning a celebration of life, a memorial ceremony, a service at a crematorium or a burial, I can guide you through the options available and I’ve included more information on different types of funerals on my website. The content and formality of your event are flexible, but respect and dignity are assured.

It was a heartfelt and sensitive presentation you gave to celebrate his life, with especially meaningful music choices. Afterwards many friends who had never been to a Humanist funeral before mentioned how impressed they were and how well you had summed up his life. Many thanks for making the ceremony such a positive celebration.

I thought you might like to know that everyone after the funeral said that it was the ‘best’ funeral to which they’d ever been! On a personal level I would like to say a big thank you, I was quite out of my comfort zone sorting out the funeral and given the relatively short time we had, I thought you helped me arrange a really kind and sensitive ‘Service’.

Thank you so much for guiding us through this unfamiliar territory, so that we could give our Dad the send off he would have wanted and deserved.

Thank you for the keepsake copy and also very many thanks for all you did both before and during the ceremony. Your approach and style was perfect for the occasion and we are all very grateful for the significant contribution you made.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
