Dr G Humanist Celebrant

Hello

My name is Geraldine and I am pleased to say hello. I am a qualified Humanist Celebrant.

Who Am I?

My working title is Dr G, as I am a doctor of letters. I have a PHD in Trauma and Memory.

I also work as an artist and reminiscence facilitator.

What lead me to becoming a Celebrant?

My experience of working with people with early stage dementia for over 16 years and helping them and their families write their life story, using photographs, music and memories, made becoming a celebrant a natural step. I have helped and guided numerous individuals and families to write their life story.

What you can expect from me?

I will coordinate a meeting with yourself and your family and help you to structure your tribute to your loved one. Writing a tribute is a collaborative process but it can also be overwhelming at a time when you are experiencing the end of life trauma that is grief. I offer clarity of thought, structure and the ability to produce a ceremony which will have meaning to all that are there to celebrate your loved one’s life with you.

Celebrate a Life

This is an authentic, uplifting and deeply personal way to say goodbye, with warmth, honesty and respect. The act of choosing music, photographs and readings can bring back happy memories. It focuses on the life they led, the relationships and the memories they made. It can be a truly uplifting and cathartic experience.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
