My own experience of loss has had a profound influence on my decision to become a celebrant. My brother, Lindon died suddenly at the age of 42. At his funeral, it was very important to me that the ceremony captured his personality, his character and the things that made him special to the people who loved him. I prepared and delivered a deeply personal tribute to him. It was a privilege to do so and an experience that I will never forget.
A funeral is an important step in the grieving process. It is an opportunity to come together with those who knew and loved someone, to share our memories and celebrate their life. I believe passionately in the value of a personal and meaningful funeral ceremony.
Everyone’s story is unique. A funeral should capture someone’s character, the relationships they built, the things that made them laugh, the challenges they overcame and the difference they made to the people around them. I’ll take the time to listen carefully to your memories, stories and wishes. Together, we’ll create a ceremony that feels authentic and true to the person whose life we’re celebrating. My aim is to make sure that families feel that their loved one has been remembered with dignity, warmth and sincerity.
I have worked as a civil engineer for 35 years, delivering projects, leading teams and working with people from all walks of life. I have found that some of the most rewarding aspects of my work have been listening to people, understanding what matters to them, communicating clearly and helping them through important moments with empathy, honesty and respect. I bring those same qualities to my role as a celebrant.
Outside civil engineering and celebrancy, I am a keen cyclist and love playing guitar and banjo. I have been married to Lesley for 28 years, and we enjoy travelling at home and abroad in our motorhome. My interests and passions reinforce my belief that life is precious, every person’s story is special, and the memories we create together are among the greatest gifts we can leave behind.
