Hi, I'm Gary

A wedding should sound like you, look like you, and feel like the only one of its kind. Because it is. My job is to make sure everyone in the room feels it too.

My interest in becoming a Humanist celebrant started in 2015 when we attended a Humanist wedding for the first time. It was the most moving and joyful ceremony. When I spoke with the celebrant afterwards, she made me want to explore more.

My life changed, in 2022, when I became sole carer for my wife Anne, who lives with advanced early onset Alzheimer's and is now in residential care. That experience, and the ongoing experience of loving her whilst we are apart, made me realise what really matters in this world.

So, I wanted to pivot to something of real worth; something joyful. And training as a Humanists UK celebrant, to help people start their own life together, felt like a wonderful pivot.

I believe that what defines each of us is our interior life, driven by the experiences we've had, the learning we've done, the people we love and the life we've lived. The kindnesses we have experienced and given. Nothing handed down, nothing prescribed. Just you.

Getting married is the most important commitment you will make, witnessed by the people you love most, and I will treat that with the care it deserves. But I also want you all to remember the joy, the fun and the laughter. The joy and the gravity belong together.

Your wedding is yours alone. Completely. That is the point of a Humanist ceremony. We'll sit together, chat, and agree the shape of your celebration. And from your story I'll write a ceremony that is wholly unique. We'll have fun with it.

I'm endlessly curious about people. (Be curious, not judgemental, as Ted Lasso has it.) Who you are, how you found each other, what makes you laugh, what you'd never want to lose in each other. Your hopes and dreams. You both.

I love readings, and if you do too then we'll work together to find the words that genuinely move you. Rumi, Gibran, something a friend wrote on the back of a napkin. If it means something to you, it belongs in your ceremony. Music too. The world is your oyster.

A proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community, I bring energy, warmth and commitment to every couple I work with.

Bring me your story. I'll bring the rest. Let's make this a fun and joyous journey together, slowly and intentionally.
