Hi, I'm Colin

Hello – I’m Colin, a funeral celebrant offering meaningful, authentic funeral ceremonies to help you say goodbye.

I create inclusive, non-religious ceremonies that honour identity and individuality. Every person is unique, and I believe their farewell should reflect that, whether quiet and reflective or bold and joyful.

My role is to listen, understand, and craft a ceremony that feels true to the person who has died, and right for those saying goodbye.

I warmly welcome everyone. My ceremonies are always shaped by the values, personality, and stories of the individual - not by tradition or religion - and I support families, chosen families and friends to create a sincere, meaningful tribute.

I bring particular insight and care to funerals within the LGBTQ+ community. As someone with deep roots in LGBTQ+ activism, I know how important it is that lives shaped by difference, pride and love are honoured with authenticity and dignity.

Whether someone lived quietly or vividly, openly or privately, I ensure their story is told with respect, empathy, celebration and truth.

Funerals can be sad and reflective or a joyous celebration of life. A well-crafted ceremony creates space to make meaning, honour relationships and truly mark the moment.

Families often tell me they feel heard, understood, and reassured. I aim to bring calm professionalism, warmth, and a sense of occasion to every ceremony I lead.

I can deliver a service at a crematorium, a burial ground or a memorial in a place of your choosing. Whether you are planning a small gathering or a large celebration of life, I’ll guide you through the process with care. Together, we will shape a fitting goodbye - one that reflects the values and spirit of the person you loved, and offers comfort and connection to those left behind.

Memorial services have increased in popularity as more people seek personalised, non-religious ways to remember their loved ones that aren't constrained by more traditional settings. These ceremonies offer meaningful, inclusive, and bespoke celebrations of life.

I am based in both South London and Leeds and can deliver ceremonies in both areas.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
