Hi, I'm Clare

I am Clare Morley, a Humanist Funeral Celebrant.

I am married with two grown up children and four much adored grandchildren. I enjoy walking, tennis, reading, and wild swimming. I conduct non-religious funerals and also work part time as a consultant in the world of vocational education and volunteer at a foodbank.

I aim to help you through what is always a difficult and challenging experience. Whether you are organising a funeral for a friend or a member of your family, it will be tough and I will support you. I will ask you questions to find out as much as I can about the person who has died – from their biographical details through to what their character was like. I will help you work out exactly how you want their funeral to be. I will draft a funeral service for you to look at and we will agree any changes you want to make before I deliver it on the day.

My values

I listen

I support you to work out what you want – offering as much or as little support and guidance as you want

The funeral is not about me or what I want to say – it’s about what you want and about the person you are remembering and saying goodbye to

I put all my effort into making sure the funeral is unique and right for you and the person who has died

Everyone is special and deserves a funeral that reflects the way they lived their life; we only get one funeral each and it has to be right

I offer as much or as little advice and guidance as you want and need. Authentic “thank yous” from people I work with are what makes me love my work:

You were excellent at listening to what we wanted and very flexible in your approach to developing the ‘script’, so that we were happy that it struck the right note. We felt reassured that you would be able to conduct the service in a way that was completely comfortable for us, and you definitely did that. Thank you‘ T, G, A & L

“We don’t know how to thank you enough for all your help and support over the last few days – I can’t imagine how we would have managed without you” R & K

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
