Hi, I'm Chris

First things first…congratulations – you’re getting married! More than anything I want you to know that being a celebrant is a privilege and an honour; you can expect a highly personalised and professional service. I work with you to craft words, symbols and actions to form a memorable event that you will draw upon for the rest of your lives.

This is your day and I want to help you to do it your way. That might be traditional in style or something quite outlandish; inside or outside, large or small…live or live-streamed! One of the great things about a Humanist celebration is that there are no rules – just an opportunity to celebrate and formalise your love before those who are special to you. I also celebrate diversity and inclusion; I aim to help remove any barriers that might prevent you or those you care about from fully participating in the ceremony.

I was raised in Manchester, studied in Liverpool and have worked in Manchester, Cornwall, Botswana and Somerset where I now live. I come from a background in teaching and training and now enjoy using my experience in planning and presentation as I engage with couples to deliver special ceremonies. Whilst my default manner is to make people relaxed and find humour...I can also put my serious hat on too!

I enjoy the outdoors and all it has to offer; from surfing and kayaking to long dog walks in the West Country (Dora - the Vislador in case you're interested). I am a keen guitarist and chose to step into celebrancy after also performing at many weddings across the South West.

Have a browse and watch my introductory video to get a sense of what I am about and whether my style and manner seem right for both of you. I am based in the centre of Somerset but am happy to travel further afield. The starting point is always a no obligation phone call / video chat.

I look forward to hearing from you.

"He made for us the perfect blend of heartfelt, solemn, relaxed and funny - exactly what we had wanted. What really stood out to us was the extra effort Chris made to ensure that everyone felt included."

— Alix and Will (Collumpton)

“Your ability to capture the meaning and moments so well are astounding. ”

— Simon and Caroline (Birmingham)

Thank you so much for being our celebrant at the wedding. It was truly an amazing day. Sooo many people expressed how well put together the ceremony was and how much they liked you. Several people said it was the best they’d been to.

— Morgan and Adam (USA)

“Everyone loved the ceremony, your delivery was so good and made our day so special!”

— Aura and Cameron (London)

"Wow! What can we say? A wonderful ceremony by a wonderful human being , everything you said was authentic and thought provoking which captured us exactly x Our only wish, is that you could have stayed for the whole day!

All the guests have remarked on how touching and unique the ceremony was, some saying it was the best wedding they’ve been to as it was so personalised."

— Michele and Simon (Quantocks)

"Thanks so much for all your efforts ahead of the wedding which meant the ceremony was just what we wanted. Your delivery was excellent and we’re pleased even the handfasting went smoothly! Every day since Saturday we’ve been looking at our watches at 1330 which has helped highlight how lucky we were with the weather.

When you first raised the idea of us both writing our own vows it’s safe to say we both found it a very daunting thing to do. However, it turned out to be an extremely rewarding experience so we are both delighted you asked us to do that. "

— Chris and Claire (Exeter)

"Just wanted to email to say a big thank you for last week. We were so happy with the ceremony and everyone said how lovely and personal it all was. They all thought the sand ceremony was the cutest thing too.

We really appreciate you being a big part in our wedding and helped to make it so special!

We will recommend you time and time again. "

— Jess and Ben (Somerset)
