Hi, I'm Carla

Whether you're envisioning a vibrant, energetic celebration or a more intimate, personal ceremony, I’m here to help you create a day that truly reflects your love, identities, and shared future. If that includes live music, your beloved pets, or meaningful rituals, I will ensure your ceremony is uniquely yours. Whatever your vision, I would be honoured to be your celebrant and bring your ideas to life.

I draw deeply from my own experiences to help make your day special. As a queer person from an Irish Catholic background, I understand the complexities of embracing one's authentic self while navigating family expectations. I also recognise the nuanced relationship between grief and joy, and how it’s important to honour loved ones who are no longer with us.

My journey into celebrancy was inspired by completing a Foundation Certificate in LGBT+ Affirmative Counselling Skills. This course deepened my understanding of gender, sexuality, and relationship diversity (GSDR), fuelling my passion for meaningful connection and personal expression.

As a volunteer co-organiser for Walthamstow Trans Pride and Event Lead for LGBT Humanists UK, I work to ensure that individuals and communities feel heard, respected, and supported. I believe in the power of inclusivity and accessibility, and I’m committed to creating a space where everyone feels celebrated and cherished.

If you’re seeking a celebrant who is uplifting, compassionate, and dedicated to making your wedding day as memorable and meaningful as possible, I’d love to collaborate with you on bringing your vision to life.

It was Carla's openness and warmth that first caught our attention and after meeting her we knew she was just who we needed. With her vibrant personality and compassionate heart, we had a great time and felt safe and secure throughout the process. We wouldn't change a thing about our ceremony.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist weddings

A humanist wedding ceremony is a wonderful option to celebrate your wedding in the way you choose: without religion but with meaning, and totally true to the two of you. They are uplifting and heartwarming occasions, personal to each couple to reflect your personalities and interests, and your love story. Sincere and significant, your ceremony will be crafted to create an occasion which is unique and fitting to you both.
