Hi, I'm Alice

Hello - lovely to see you here!

I'm Alice (she/her) and I live in Whalley Range in Manchester. For more celebrant content, head over to www.instagram.com/celebratewithalice, I don't post nearly as often as I should do, but it will give you an idea!

The beauty of a humanist wedding ceremony is that it can be whatever you want it to be. It can follow a tried-and-tested, conventional format, it can be a blend of the traditional and eccentric, it can merge customs from different cultures. There can be music, singing, dancing, hand-fasting or broom-jumping (google it). We can even include children and/or animals in the proceedings! Fundamentally, though, it is about celebrating the unique spark between two people. I am queer, trans and SWer inclusive in my practice; I am also a work in progress, always open to feedback. Everyone has a story to tell, and it's my job to draw yours out in a way that is fun and authentic.

I thoroughly enjoy the time I spend getting to know the couples I marry. It is a real privilege to get to hear your stories, and collaboratively craft a ceremony that is perfect for you. My process isn't a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor my practice to your specific needs. Some couples already know exactly what kind of ceremony they want and simply need me to realise their vision, others feel TOTALLY overwhelmed and have no idea where to even begin. Both of these states, and everything in between, are completely fine with me.

Let's get started.

If you think I might be a good fit for your wedding, drop me an email and we can organise a quick, no-obligation-to-book video call where you can ask any questions and vibe-check!

Picking Alice as our celebrant was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. She was perfect and everything we wanted out of a celebrant. From start to finish, Alice was reliable, responsive, creative, easy and pure brilliance in human form. The script she wrote managed to capture us and our relationship so well, it had us in tears from the moment of reading to the moment we stood and heard it in the ceremony. Not to mentioned the floods if tears even the most stoic of guests produced, Alice’s understanding of telling love stories and bringing everyone in the room along for the ride is incredible. Thank you Alice for being such a huge part of our perfect day, could not have done it without you.

The best part of the day was, without a doubt, our ceremony... We first met in the comfort of our own living room with lots of brews and mince pies, where Alice chatted to us as if we had known her forever, drawing out the story of our relationship, what we mean to each other and the reasons we wanted to get married. She then wove all of this together to create the most beautiful script which she delivered with all her energy on our wedding day.

The ceremony was fun, filled with love and was genuinely perfect. The comments from our guests mirrored how we felt including a thank you to Alice by both fathers of the brides in their speeches! Most of our family and friends didn't know what to expect from a humanist ceremony but all said afterwards that it was the best ceremony they had ever attended. As Kay's cousin Mark said: "Ceremonies are usually something you want to get out of the way but yours was class!"

Alice was with us all the way. Her genuine warmth and lovely personality ensured the whole process was stress-free, exciting and just a great part of the wedding planning. We loved her so much that we invited her to stay for the whole wedding.

Thank you for a brilliant process and an unforgettable ceremony, Alice Phelps you are amazing!

Thanks for everything Alice, and for being such a calming force in the storm. You went way over and above today, we're forever grateful for holding space for us to navigate such complex emotions all at once.
