For me, a wedding ceremony should feel like it belongs completely to the two people at its heart. It should be warm, personal and meaningful, but it should also sound natural. It is your story, your relationship and your day, not a ceremony taken from a template.
I take time to get to know you both, to hear how you met, what matters to you, what makes you laugh and what you want the ceremony to say about the life you are building together. From those conversations I create a ceremony that reflects you as individuals and as a couple. That might mean moments of real emotion, stories that make your guests smile, readings or music that have particular meaning for you, and vows that feel genuinely your own.
A Humanist wedding gives you considerable freedom to create a ceremony around your values and your relationship. I will help you make choices that have a reason behind them, rather than including traditions simply because they are expected. If there are traditions you love, they can absolutely be part of the day. If there are things that do not feel like you, we can leave them out and find something that does.
My approach is relaxed and collaborative. I will guide you through the process, help shape your ideas and make sure the ceremony works as a whole, while keeping your personalities at the centre of it. On the day, my job is to give you the confidence to enjoy the ceremony rather than worry about what happens next.
I particularly enjoy the storytelling at the heart of a wedding ceremony. The small details, shared memories and unexpected moments are often what make a ceremony distinctive. Humour can be part of that too, when it comes naturally from your story rather than being added for effect.
The result should be a ceremony that feels unmistakably yours, one that your guests recognise as being about the two of you and that you remember for the right reasons.
