Hi, I'm Adam

Thank you for landing on my profile!

Sadly, of course, that means that you are planning the funeral or celebration of life for someone very important to you. You may be feeling a little overwhelmed by everything that needs to happen when someone dies - so much admin - at a time when you are grieving, and still trying to manage your daily life. As an accredited and experienced funeral celebrant, with a long career in public service behind me, I can work with you to craft a ceremony that will serve as part of the process of saying goodbye, and enable you to remember and celebrate the life of your special person. If you need me to, I can also help you deal with some of that admin that surrounds a death, giving you space to grieve.

The fact that you are here may mean that you are thinking about your own ceremony, and how you would like it to be. Making those sorts of decisions can give you peace of mind, and can be a great support to those left behind. I have the accreditation and experience to work with you on this. Please call, email, or have a look at my website for more information.

You can find out more from my own website here. Please do get in touch. I am always happy to have a chat about your requirements, without any commitment on your part; the important thing is that you choose a funeral celebrant who is a good fit for you, and who can put together a ceremony that provides the perfect opportunity to mourn the person who has died, and to celebrate their life. Please phone or email - I'd be delighted to hear from you.

On my website, you will find a selection of testimonials from people I have worked with, which I hope will help you to decide whether I might be the celebrant for you. You can also see a few below. You may also find this link useful.

Thank you so very much for Monday. We were all very happy with the celebration you led for us. Lots of guests remarked at how fitting your tribute was, everyone from all the different aspects of his life felt included.

J, C, and I have congratulated ourselves at the choice of celebrant!

We’ve just arrived home and I wanted to say a very big ‘thank you’ to you for conducting the service so perfectly with just the right balance of solemnity and humour.

I will be eternally grateful to you for all your help in making the service so lovely - this is both my feeling about it and also that of all the attendees who were very complimentary about, and much moved by, the event.

Several guests who had not attended a humanist funeral before also said how excellent it was, which was all down to your superb delivery and the skilled way in which you ‘knitted’ it all together.

Adam led the ceremony for my stepdad’s funeral and we couldn’t have asked for more. He suggested some beautifully fitting poetry and the whole thing felt very meaningful. Considering Adam was talking about a man he had never had the pleasure of meeting in person, the tribute to my stepdad was fantastically spot on! Thank you so much.

I just wanted to thank you for the lovely service you officiated for R. Your words were comforting and uplifting; they were a fitting tribute to a life well lived. Your delivery was heartfelt and sincere, you captured the spirit of R beautifully. So many people have come to me since and said what a lovely service it was, and some have said it has made them question the beliefs they hold!

We are so grateful.

HUMANIST CEREMONIES™ is the network of more than 550 celebrants, trained by national charity Humanists UK to a gold standard to provide memorable and meaningful humanist ceremonies to non-religious people. Operating throughout England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, we deliver authentic, tailor-made and heartfelt ceremonies for life’s key moments. They are always inclusive and welcoming, regardless of the beliefs of those attending.

You can trust Humanist Ceremonies celebrants: We are DBS-checked, fully insured, and regularly peer reviewed for quality assurance. We are committed to a code of conduct, and have a transparent and robust complaints process in the rare case of a problem. We all pay a monthly fee to Humanists UK to further support the work of the charity, and are part of a regional network for like-minded celebrants for support and learning.

Humanist funerals

Humanist funerals, memorials and ash ceremonies are a fitting way to honour a unique life with warmth, sensitivity and meaning, but without reference to religion or an afterlife. They put the story of the person who has died at the heart of the ceremony, paying tribute to them and the legacy they leave, and provide an opportunity to bring people together, not just to share sadness but to celebrate a life lived.
