Fees for Humanist Ceremonies
Each ceremony is unique, and fees will vary depending on where you are in the country as well as the nature and content of the ceremony itself.
Our celebrants set their own fees (they are self-employed) and will take into consideration the time involved in creating your ceremony. They may charge for travel separately. You can check celebrants’ websites for details of their fees, or you can call or email the celebrant and they will be happy to discuss ceremony costs with you.
As a general guide, fees might fall between:
- Funerals £180 – £300 for a single time slot at a crematorium. Longer, more complex ceremonies, ash ceremonies or memorial services may be more.
- Weddings £450 – £1500
- Naming Ceremonies £150 – £450
We want everybody who would like to use a humanist celebrant in the UK to have access to one they can afford.
Celebrants will tell you from the start what the exact fee for the ceremony will be. Any additional expenses will also be discussed and agreed in advance.
Our accredited celebrants are members of Humanist UK’s Celebrant Network, which means they have been trained by us and adhere to our Code of Conduct, to ensure their quality of service. They are also covered by full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance, have DBS checks, complete annual professional development, and are regularly peer-reviewed. Additionally they are all members of Humanists UK, and pay a quarterly fee to support our charitable aims.
