We work on behalf of the non-religious in Northern Ireland to promote Humanism, a secular state, and equal treatment of everyone regardless of religion or belief. Due to our campaigning efforts, we have had a number of recent successes! Here are just some of them:
- Sending copies of What is Humanism? to every school in Northern Ireland
- Winning in court to make humanist marriages legally recognised in Northern Ireland
- A Supreme Court case establishing that Northern Ireland’s abortion ban breaches human rights
- A legal case and successful Parliamentary lobbying efforts to secure free abortions for NI women in Britain
- Campaigning for free, safe, and legal abortions in Northern Ireland
- Fighting to quash the prosecutions of women prosecuted under Northern Ireland’s abortion law
- Efforts to reform the RE curriculum to include humanism and non-Christian religions
- A popular grassroots campaign to remove collective worship from schools
- Campaigning for marriage equality and other LGBT rights issues
- Producing comparisons of party manifestos to promote humanist ideas in the elections
- Weekly secular brunch events all over Northern Ireland
- Successful events to stimulate humanist community activism in Northern Ireland
- Training humanist celebrants, pastoral carers, and school speakers across the country
