Northern Ireland Pastoral Care 'Taster Session'

Curious about providing non-religious emotional support in hospitals and prisons in Northern Ireland? Join us for a one-hour 'Taster Session' to discover what Humanist Pastoral Care is all about—and whether volunteering might be the right fit for you.
What to Expect:
- Introduction to Humanist Pastoral Care
Learn how our volunteers offer active listening without invoking faith-based approaches.
- Hospital & Prison Contexts
Find out who you’ll meet, what a typical visit looks like, and how our role differs in each setting (confidentiality, boundaries, security protocols).
- Volunteer Pathway & Expectations
We’ll walk through the training steps (interview, DBS/prison clearance, core workshop, shadowing) and outline the time commitment, code of conduct, and ongoing support network.
- Q&A and Next Steps
Ask any questions you have, then learn how to apply, secure training dates, and sign up before our training begins.
Who Should Attend:
Anyone who:
- Wants to explore a non-religious alternative to faith-based chaplaincy
