Advancing humanism in the York branch

At this meeting we will be taking a slightly different approach to our regular lectures by facilitating a discussion on three issues of importance to humanists:

My Life – My Choice

The law currently prevents the individual from controlling how their life ends. Cate Quinn will summarise the current position and then invite you to discuss some of the ethical issues.

Human Rights for Women

In parts of the world basic human rights for women and girls face appalling repression. Misogyny seems to be as pervasive as ever even though many of us have had enough of it. Brian Quinn will lead a discussion and ask how humanists can best maximise our influence.

Developing humanism in York

Our nation’s belief systems are in flux. For the first time the non-religious are the largest group in the UK. Colin Lewisohn will ask us to consider how we can attract current and potential humanists and how we can best advance humanist causes in our area.

We invite your thoughts and ideas.
