Rooted in misguided beliefs, it subjects LGBT people, often young and vulnerable, to practices ranging from pseudo-psychological treatments to extreme measures like forced marriage and ‘corrective rape’. The consequences? Lasting mental trauma, self-harm, and tragically, even suicide.
