# Lorraine Barrett AM quits Welsh Assembly to spend more time with the BHA!

Lorraine Barrett AM, BHA Distinguished supporter, has announced that she will not be seeking re-selection for the next Assembly elections in 2011, and intends to concentrate her time on developing her work as a Humanist Celebrant

Ms Barrett said, ‘I have taken this decision because I trained last Summer, with the British Humanist Association, as a Humanist Celebrant and I now conduct Humanist or non-religious funeral ceremonies. It is going very well and I get huge satisfaction in being able to do something so special for families at the most difficult time of their lives.’

‘I want to expand and develop my work as a celebrant to do baby-namings, weddings and civil partnerships.’

#### Notes

The British Humanist Association (BHA) is the national charity supporting and representing non-religious people who seek to lead ethical lives without supernatural or superstitious beliefs. The BHA is also renowned for its humanist funerals, weddings, namings and other non-religious ceremonies.
